This course emphasizes the importance of performing effective product demonstrations based on the types of information about the products and services to be presented in beauty care industry. Learners become effective in performing product demonstrations when they apply competently the different methods of demonstration while probing for customer’s requirements using effective communication skills. The course is designed to include all essential skills and competencies in this area of expertise. SOQ incorporates practical learning including demonstration and hands-on practice with focus of enabling learners effectively transfer their learning and apply in the workplace within the retail, beauty & wellness environment.

3.Apply effective communication skills to identify customers’ requirements

4.Apply the methods of demonstration to present and demonstrate effectively 

5.Types of information and demonstration method (Role Play) - Choose one:

 

1. In-Store demonstrations

  • Product demonstration with Semi-permanent Embroidery
  • Pre/post treatment advisory & communication
  • Contraindication & types of information to be collect and present
  • Hands on practical in-service demonstration


2. In-service demonstration

  • Product demonstration with Facial Therapy/ Body Meridian
  • Pre/post treatment advisory & communication
  • Contraindication & types of information to be collect and present
  • Hands on practical in-service demonstration


3. Digital demonstrations

  • Product demonstration with Xiao Hong Shu and AI content generation tools
  • IP and brand positioning with new media
  • New media's content/ image/ video creative production (Canva, ChatGPT, Capcut)
  • Other hands's on management & FAQs on selected digital platform

Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ)

The Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) is a national credential system that trains, develops, assesses and certifies skills and competencies for the workforce. As a continuing education and training (CET) system, WSQ supports the SkillsFuture movement to:

  • Promote recognition of skills and competencies to facilitate progression, mastery and mobility;
  • Promote holistic development of the workforce through technical and generic skills and competencies;
  • Support economic development by professionalising skills and competencies to drive industry transformation, productivity and innovation efforts; and
  • Encourage lifelong learning.

 

Quality Assurance

WSQ is underpinned by a strong quality assurance framework. From developing competency standards, to accrediting training providers to awarding WSQ qualifications, stringent criteria are applied to ensure best standards and delivery. A structured and efficient system has been established to help build a strong training infrastructure that supports Singapore's workforce development.


Course Objectives

The course will enable learners to competently qualify customers’ needs using appropriate questioning techniques, presenting the benefits of relevant products’ features that meet these needs, information on competitors’ products and services etc. With competencies in handling customers’ queries and feedback on products and services, learners are able to identify buying signals, apply selling strategies to close sale of products and services with customers, advise customers of any follow-up actions needed etc


Course Learning Outcome

  • Learners will be able to apply effective communication skills to identify customers’ requirements
  • Learners will be able to apply the methods of demonstration to present and demonstrate effectively the products and services to customers



Pre-requisites
  • Aged 21 years and above.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of work experience in beauty and personal care industry.
  • Possess some knowledge about beauty and personal care products such as cosmetics, skin care and beauty and personal treatments.
  • Education level of at least Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 3 or its equivalent.
  • SOQ shall counsel and advise applicants without meeting the education, literacy and numeracy requirement that they may not be able to comprehend the content, keep up pace of training and/or cope with assessment conducted. Where necessary, unsuitable applicants will be discouraged from enrolling in the programme.


Cognitive Level (Low to Mid):

  • Participants possess at least primary education or its equivalent
  • Basic command of English language and able to converse in English and/or Chinese language


Affective Level (Mid to High):

  • Employer-sponsored individuals who are self-motivated to hone their skills and competencies in the beauty and wellness industry
  • Employer-sponsored individuals who possess strong interests in grooming their professional career in the beauty and wellness industry


Sociality Level (Low to Mid):

  • Some experience in working and collaborating in team environment
  • Relevant experience in interacting with customer
